IN A NUTSHELL.

As the Head of Operations you are responsible for the quality of our product on the ground. You will manage an organization of 500+ employees across all verticals of the Operations team. We just entered the scale up phase and that means we want to develop our operations team to the next level. You’ll play a very important role in developing your direct reports (6-7) so they have the skills and tools to do so. You collaborate closely with the founders of Check and set the future strategy of Operations.

ABOUT CHECK.

Check is a fast-growing shared mobility platform, providing the easiest way around town. We believe urban mobility can be more efficient and we want everyone in every city to be able to reach their destination within 15 minutes. We do this by introducing new and smart forms of mobility.

With our solutions we help to reduce the carbon footprint and work towards a cleaner world.

In February 2020, we launched our first 160 e-mopeds in Rotterdam and within 6 months we 10x-ed that, opening in Amsterdam, The Hague and Breda. Not long thereafter we turned profitable as a company at group level and became an international company by opening our first German city: Düsseldorf. In the meantime, we are currently active in 15 cities and counting with 6000+ vehicles.

THE ROLE. 

You will be the Head of the Operations where you have full responsibility over the development of the team as well as the results including P&L responsibility. With your strong focus on team and personal development you are able to contribute to an even better overall performance of the operations team. Happy employees reach their maximum potential.

  • You're accountable for several KPI’s like downtime, defect rate, quality of the fleet, team churn and COGS;
  • Coaching and development of your team including performance management reviews;
  • Advise the co-founders when it comes to operations on topics regarding; investment rounds and partnerships;
  • Be able to set a clear vision on the future organizational structure in 2 years from now;
  • Take full ownership by understanding an operational P&L including detailed knowledge of financial metrics.

In a more corporate world you could see this role as the Chief Operations Officer (COO). At Check we believe to keep things as clean and simple as possible. That means we keep our organizational structure as flat as possible. Everyone in HQ collaborates together and gives their (unsolicited) advice, feeding our growth mindset.

YOUR PROFILE.

  • Master degree, with at least 5 years of relevant work experience;
  • Experience with managing and developing a team in a multiple layered organization. Meaning your direct reports manage a team as well.
  • Ability to think in scaling up and what that means for operations today.
  • You are outgoing, people and result focussed and you understand the importance of stakeholder management
  • You raise the bar everyday and have the potential to grow into a role as Managing Director.
  • Preferably you have experience within a start up that became a scale up. But at least you bring one of them.

  3. Meet the team; in this round you are able to get to know us better and prepare yourself for the final round.
  4. In the final round we like to see you in action. You’ll prepare a presentation where you show us your vision on Operations.
